Packer 70 Nyc Scholastic Art and Writing Awards 2017
Packer Artists and Writers Earn Record 113 Scholastic Awards

Forty-six Packer Middle and Upper School students have been recognized with a record 113 New York Urban center Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2014. The regional awards are chosen past the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers and sponsored by Scholastic, Inc. They recognize the best works in the visual and literary arts from students in grades 7–12 throughout New York Urban center.
In the visual arts categories, 19 Packer students earned 41 awards. These included 14 Gold Key, 7 Silvery Primal, and 20 Honorable Mention awards.
In add-on, 28 Packer students earned an unprecedented 72 awards in writing, including12 Gold Central, 31 Silver Key, and thirty Honorable Mention awards.
Special recognition goes to Allison Rainsby 'fourteen, who earned a Gold Key for her writing portfolio submission.
Special recognition also goes to Tess Wagman '14, who earned a Gold Key for her fine art portfolio submission along with Olivia Hodges '14 and Olivia Mendoza 'fourteen, who earned Honorable Mention for their art portfolio submissions.
The Scholastic Fine art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923 and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates. The Alliance presents over $250,000 annually in awards and scholarships to top winners of the Awards and their teachers. Gilded Key recipients will have their work avant-garde for consideration at the national level.
The Scholastic Fine art and Writing Awards continue to exist the longest-running, about prestigious recognition programme for artistic teens in the US, and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.
